Rain Wins AgainRain showers forced Tyler County officials to cancel the racing program Saturday night. Next Saturday (August 21) will feature regular racing in all classes plus the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association. The arm bands from 8-14 will be honored for 8-21 only. This will be the final regular season race before the Labor Day spectacular. The three day Black Diamond weekend September 3,4,5 continues to grow with anticipation and pre-entry lists are added to daily. Paul Wilmoth Jr. Takes Eaton/Childers King of The RingA near full pit area, hot temperatures, a Scott, Hawkins, S. Wilmoth, Garnes, and McGill were now the top five. The attention shifted to P. Wilmoth as he used the outside groove to methodically move to the front, taking fifth on lap 23 from his nineteenth starting spot. Scott and Hawkins were still running one and two while P. Wilmoth, Garnes and S. Wilmoth were three wide for position. The next caution came out on lap 33 for Steve Weigle in turn four. On the restart Greg Eaton spun on the front straight bringing the yellow out again.

full moon, hot tempers and some great racing greeted the Tyler faithful Saturday night. The rescheduled Eaton Childers King of the Ring for the Dodd’s Sporting Goods Late Models was the highlight of the night. In heat race action Chris Garnes, Tim Dohm, and Steve Wilmoth were winners. Paul Wilmoth Jr., took the consey. Early front runner Tim Dohm’s evening ended early with a flat right rear tire. Robbie Scott motored to the lead on lap four and set the pace. The first stoppage came on lap six when Billy Brown looped his mount in turn four. Scott, S. Wilmoth, Butch McGill, Jacob Hawkins and Garnes were the top five. The leaders entered lapped traffic by lap 11. Hawkins worked his way into second on lap 12 and began to close in on Scott. Brown spun again on lap 19 in turn two bringing out the yellow again.
